Recently we’ve had some members express their concern about walking or playing off of the newly seeded fairways. While staying off of them completely is the most ideal situation, we also realize that our members spend good money to be able to utilize the club’s facilities, and fall golf offers us some of the most beautiful weather to play in.
With course construction last year on the bunkers, everyone involved felt that keeping the course open and golf carts off of the fairways was the best compromise, rather than closing the golf course completely. The new grass seed that will begin to grow is very tolerant to traffic, and is designed to withstand the everyday issues caused by walking and playing off of it. What stresses it most is heavy equipment including golf carts, especially when it is so heavily watered – something we must continue to do during the growth.
We want everyone to rest assured that the play on the course now will not adversely affect the condition of the turf next spring. Please continue to keep your carts off of the fairways and to replace your divots or fill them in with the sand & seed offered on #1 tee. There is no poa annua seed in those bottles so they are fine to continue to use, and eventually we will transition them to sand only as this new Bluegrass has the ability to spread and fill in on its own.
On Monday August 27 the club will host the annual Gutensohn Tournament. The golf course will not be closed but only a few holes will be open. The tournament will be a shotgun start at 12:30pm. If you play and are done by 12:30 you will not be affected. Please check in the golf shop for playing instruction after 12:30pm.
LADIES NIGHT OUT
